The Stratomech Story

Our founder, Johnny Chandler, realized a need for faster turnaround times while working for the U.S. Military. More specifically, he noticed a need for smaller-scale unmanned vehicles and defense equipment, as many orders for these products were taking years to fulfill.

With a background in aerospace engineering and extensive experience working as a Navy aerospace and mechanical engineer, Johnny believed he could meet this need by establishing his own rapid prototyping facility in Summerville, South Carolina.

Such a facility would allow him to design, develop, test, and manufacture unmanned vehicles at an expedited pace— not just for the U.S. Military, but for any company, organization, or individual requiring these unique pieces of machinery.

In 2013, Johnny took his idea from vision to reality, investing in the equipment and technology required to operate his own rapid prototyping facility. Being a casual, no-frills kind of guy, clients were drawn to Johnny’s pragmatic and to-the-point approach to business, and soon multiple projects were on the books.

Stratomech is now in its ninth year of business and has completed more than 16 unmanned and autonomous vehicle engineering projects since its inception. Johnny’s hope is to eventually expand the Stratomech team, employing a team of approximately 25 people, to further expedite production while still maintaining the quality and competitive price points his clients have come to appreciate and expect.

Follow Up

When you hire us to mechanically engineer your unmanned vehicle, you’re hiring a team you can depend on to keep you informed and in-the-loop at all times. If we encounter an issue—big or small— you’ll be the first to know, and we’ll come prepared with possible solutions or alternatives.

We know you’re looking for an unmanned vehicle engineer you can rely on to communicate effectively and maintain open dialog. We won’t let you down.

2

Practicality

We aim to identify the most beneficial, streamlined approach to each task we take on, whether it’s unmanned systems development, mechanical component design, or identifying opportunities to improve functionality and capability. We don’t believe in unnecessarily complicated solutions. Instead, we prefer to find realistic workarounds, without compromising quality and performance, of course.

All Focus, No Fuss

We’re not salesmen. We’re engineers. You won’t find us in slick suits or pristine offices. But what you will find if you visit our rapid prototyping facility is a team of dedicated professionals with a strong aptitude for the work they do. We prefer elbow grease to rubbing elbows, but we stand by our work and we’re always happy to discuss the analytical processes and innovative thoughts that make our projects possible.
